A Perfect Pair with Cheery Lynn and Prickley Pear

3:30 AM 11 Comments

I know you've had to have enjoyed this weeks perfect pairing with Cheery Lynn Dies and Prickley Pear Stamps.  It's been so much fun for the designers to really get to get inky.   Today I created this butterfly card.  Of course my flowers are created with Cheery Lynn dies along with the lace border, but the stamp/cut butterfly is courtesy of Prickley Pear along with the lovely sentiment.

Here is a complete list of Cheery Lynn Dies Used:

and here are all the Prickley Pear goodies I used

See you next week.

Cheery Lynn and Prickley Pear - A Winning Combination!

3:30 AM 12 Comments
Hi Everyone,

It's Joann with you today and I have a fun little project to share using my Cheery Lynn dies and some of the lovely Prickley Pear stamps and co-ordinating dies.  Yes, it's a folding purse!  You can find more info on it here.

As you know, this week we have been enjoying this lovely joint venture with Prickly Pear.  I hope you have been enjoying the wonderful creations made by both DT's and we have provided you with some inspiration.  If you haven't done so already, do pop over to the Prickly Pear Blog to see what their DT has created for you.  You will be so glad you did!

Also don't forget to comment on  Tamara's Sunday post for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the Cheery Lynn Designs Store and also the Prickley Pear Blog for other lovely prizes.

Here are a few more pictures of my purse:

and here it is what it looks like open.  I really love that you can use a variety DP's to decorate.

I really do love the way this little purse came together however,  I do have a suggestion for you...  If you are planning to make this, I suggest you make the top flap an 1/2 inch longer and score a 1/2 flat piece at the top so that you have somewhere to attach the handle.  I think this might make it easier to close : )

Here's a list of the dies used for this project:

I hope you can find some time to visit the challenge this week and put in your entry where the theme is Roses!  With your entry you will have a chance to win a $20.00 shopping spree at Cheery Lynn Designs!

Have a Cheery Day!

Cheery Lynn And Prickley Pear Week Continues

3:30 AM 10 Comments
Hi, it's Gini back again today, filling in for Alison.  So I get to share another fun card created using Prickley Pear stamps/dies along with Cheery Lynn Designs.

This is a rather simple card, but the sentiment really gets highlighted by layering the Prickley Pear Scalloped Oval die over the French Flair Doily Stacker.  The flower was created with the Sweet Williams Strip and the leaves are from the BAF1 Embellishments.

Remember to leave a comment on Sunday's post for a chance to win a $20 store credit, and play along with this week's Roses challenge, as one entry will be chosen to win a store credit.  Stop by the Prickley Pear Blog to see what their designers are creating this week along with CLD.

Joint Venture Project - Altered Ribbon Spool

3:30 AM 12 Comments
Good Morning Cheery Lynn fans, Donna here with my project for the joint venture with Prickley Pear

I've created a large Ribbon spool by using a toilet roll and a couple circle stacker dies.
We're doing a joint venture with Prickley Pear all week long, you can see what their team has created here
I covered the toilet roll with black cardstock to make it sturdier then covered it using Graphic 45 papers. I also added some lace to the bottom and the top of the roll. I cut out a couple circles using the Stackers circle dies to create the top and bottom reels, and glued them to the centre roll using a hot glue gun. I used the Cutie 2 to create a nice border all along the top.

On the bottom base I added some Shabby Rose Frantage and then created some flowers using the Daisy Strip, and some Flourish Leaf Strip. Behind the flowers are some hearts  which are from Prickley Pear. I stamped them onto some of the papers, then cut them out, the largest heart was cut out using the Matching die for the stamp set. I also used Sophie's Heart to create a lovely base for it all to sit onto.
For the top I used the Gears Stamp set and matching die to decorate. A couple of the gears I used Frantage embossing powder on them. Each of the gears was stamped using both brown and black ink. The flowers are all the Sweet Williams, where I used both the Sweet Williams die as well as the Sweet Williams strip die. Sentiment is from the same Heart key Crown stamp set.

A complete list of dies and other products is listed below.

Work Hard, Play Harder - Guest Designer

2:00 AM 7 Comments
It's my last project for my Guest Spot in May and I thought I'd end with a manly card as it may inspire you to enter this week's challenge.
I sometimes find it difficult to incorporate fancy dies into my masculine projects but with the scalloped edges on the rectangles it made it easy.

Cheery Lynn Dies - Card Maker Scalloped Rectangles (3 sizes), Grass Border and Cuties 2 (used as a border)

I used 3 sizes of the rectangles, 2 for the back panels and the smallest one as a mat for the sentiment.
I added a little ink to the edges to emphasise the scallops.

I kept the inside simple as it is a card for a boy but used the same ribbon as on the front.

I layered the grass to give a little more depth and I think it worked well with this outdoors images.

Finally I used the Cuties 2 die again as a border, I love how well the size of the "beads" on the border match up with the scallops on the largest rectangle.
Well that is it for me, it has been wonderful guesting here at Cheery Lynn Designs and I hope you have enjoyed my projects.

Poppy in more ways than one

3:30 AM 6 Comments

Today I'm sharing a great box with you that I created for Cheery Lynn.  I've also worked up a little tutorial for you so you'll be able to make one of these fun Explosion/Poppy Boxes yourself.  Have fun!!!

Step 1: Cut two 9 inch card stock squares, cut one 5 1/8" square card stock. Cut four 2 7/8" square designer paper, cut 8 2 3/4 square designer papers for interior.

Step 2: Score one of your 9 inch squares at 3" and 6 ", turn your paper 90 degrees and score again at 3 " and 9". This will create a grid. You'll want to do this on both of your 9 inch card stock squares.

Step 3: Score each of your corner squares diagonally and fold. Fold inward as this is going to help create your box. TIP: I find using the 6" mark on my S
cor-pal makes this easy as there is a marking at the bottom of your Scor-Pal that will help ensure you have it lined up correctly.

Step 4: Using strong tape
apply your outside squares ( 2 7/8" ) to the base box.

Step 5: Cut four of your 2 3/4 squares in half and tape to inside of your explosion box along the ridges.

Step 6: On your second 9 inch square cardstock cut the outer corner squares off as shown above. Fold and crease.

Step 7: Tape your remaining square card stock pieces to the just cut cross/9 inch piece. You can also decorate the base center with designer card too.

Step 8: Score your 5 1/8" square at 1 inch on all sides. Cut a slit in where all the black marks are shown above. Fold and crease.

Step 9: Tape your flaps to the inside of the box top creating your top. Now the really fun part decorate as desired.

I created the lovely poppies using my Cheery Lynn Dies of course.  Here is a complete list of dies used on this box.

Have a wonder, safe and blessed Memorial Day weekend and I'll see you next week.

Hugs, Lori

Anchors Away!

3:30 AM 8 Comments
Hi Everyone,

The theme this week is Make it Manly so I thought that this would be a good time to make a Fathers Day Card.

I used the Mayflower and added the waves from the At The Beach set to make the ship look like it is sailing.  For the base I colored the Sailing Ship / Compass Embossing Plate with distressed ink before I embossed it and finished it off with a Sand Dollar from the Sand Dollar and Starfish set.

here is a closeup

Here's a list of the dies used for this project:

I hope you can find some time to visit the challenge this week and put in your entry where the theme is Make it Manly!  With your entry you will have a chance to win a $20.00 shopping spree at Cheery Lynn Designs!

Manly Birthday Wishes

3:30 AM 9 Comments

Sandy with you today, Alison is a bit under the weather.  She will be back with you next week.  The Cheery Lynn Designs challenge this week is Make It Manly.  Guy cards can be a challenge but this was a pretty quick card that I think would work great for a guy.  Using my Royal Coved Rectangle Mega Reflections dies, I created the overlay on the card base and the center panel of my tent card.  These dies are so versatile, you can create almost any size you need.  I hand trimmed the card base and the patterned paper pieces using the dies as templates.

Rather than using flowers, I have added a mix of leaves, pines and an acorn to make this manly embellishment.  I used some Distress ink to age the paper a bit.  Finished size is 5.5 inches square.  The paper is from the Paper Loft; the sentiment is from Hero Arts.

Be sure to visit the Cheery Lynn Designs challenge blog for more inspiration and to join in on this week's Make It Manly challenge for a chance to win $20 to the store.

Fairy Butterfly Wings

3:30 AM 6 Comments

Good Morning Donna here with my latest DT card for Cheery Lynn Designs, I've used a Willow image from Tickled Pink stamps, and mounted her onto the Exotic butterfly, which I covered with Shabby Blue frantage embossing powder, it looks gorgeous IRL. I then mounted this onto the Notre Dame Cathedral Doily and that was mounted onto the Mexican Tile Pattern Frame. I've used one of the Lace Deco Corners Set C for the corners and the burlap border die behind some blue cardstock. I've also used one of the Butterflies from Set #1(which I also sprinkled frantage embossing powder on) and finally to finish it all off, I've used the mini Fanciful flourish and the reverse of it as well on either side.
and Voila, a very simple and easy card for anyone to make using a combination of dies.

Vintage Canvas

3:30 AM 2 Comments
Hello everybody, hope you're having a relaxing Sunday, Tamara here with today's inspiration and I've had another go at a canvas this one is 10"x 8".  I have painted the canvas with Eco Green Friendly acrylics in Ocean I used a doily die which I sealed with Mod Podge. Then came the fun part of painting over with distress crackle to create that wonderful crackled finish..
The flowers have been dipped into melted beeswax, it gave my papers that wonderful dark brown.
I painted the tiny flowers in copper but forgot to add the tiny pearls to the centre and only realised after I had photographed it..
The stamped images I added glass fronts to using glossy accents.

The chipboard squares I've used treasure gold over using the brush bath to create a liquid instead of a wax,  I then stamped an image with staz on then over the top I used a creative expression wax - pearl moon.

Here's a picture of a close up of the crackle and the frantage embossing powder. Why not join us over on Cheery Lynn Challenge Blog for our weekly challenges.  A new challenge starts tomorrow (Monday)
for a chance to win a $20 coupon to spend in the Cheery Lynn Store.
