Happy Monday crafty friends! It's Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

I've got a layered card to share with you today that used up a few of my scraps on the craft table. I used bits of things in a collage, then cut it with my Classic Silver Circle Stackers die.

I started with the Fiona's Magic Mirror which is peeking out from behind the Foliage embossed layer which I cut using the Card Maker Classic largest die. Then the Horizon Coved Rectangle Boutique Stacker Frame followed by the Concentric Circles Mesh Border which was trimmed to fit.

The floral cluster is accented with a raffia bow and curled tails.

Tags 4 I used in a different way then I would normally do I traced the outer line of the die them made the paper strip a little longer.

Spring Friend Card

3:30 AM 5 Comments

Hello Everyone!

Corina here for the my last week as March Guest Designer! Time flew by so quickly! In this last week I travelled south to Vancouver BC, where Spring has sprung! Only to return home to a winter Storm and more snow! So this week, my inspiration came from the few days I spent in "Spring"!

I thought that I would share a picture of my work process when I made this card. I started off with white cardstock for my die cuts (except for Friend, I knew I wanted the sentiment dark!). I  proceed by arranging the die cuts to form my scene. From there, I painted, spritzed, glittered, coloured and inked to create my chosen colour palette.

The finished card is always a little different from my concept at the beginning! But that is okay! I always enjoy my creative journey with each and every craft project I do!

Judy's Blooms - C184
Ivy Strip - B304
Baby's Breath Flower Kit (Set of 3) - B364
Small Exotic Butterflies #1 w/Angel Wings - DL112AB
Japanese Garden Lace Oval with Angel Wing - DL136AB
Tiny Things with Wings - B266
Expandable Tiny Borders - B215
Friend (Set of 2) - B285
Two Of Hearts - DL128

Thank you for sharing this last month with me, I appreciate every comment that was left and had a wonderful time! Also a huge Thank You to BJ & Sandy for giving me this opportunity to share my passion with all of you!

Hope you enjoyed!

Create Mixed Media

3:30 AM 17 Comments

Sandy here with you today.  I stepped way out of my comfort zone and tried a mixed media piece.  Now anyone that knows me well, knows how anal I am and how hard it is for me to do artsy stuff.  I began with an 8x10 canvas sealing it with a coat of Gesso.  Using lightweight chipboard I cut out a huge amount of dies and then mixed and matched until I found something I liked.

I began with the word "create" die cut with my Lace Scrip Lower Case dies.  Below that I added a Burlap border and further down a Gears Mesh Border.  Along the left edge I added a Tiny Bubbles Mesh Border.  I added another coat of Gesso.

Next I added some chain pieces cut from a Chain Mesh Border, a Clock and a Shuttered Window.  And, yes another coat of Gesso.

I continued to add dies, Quills above the window, a Gear above that.  I cut a Dreamcatcher in half and put it along the top and on the right side.  I used a Sentiment frame behind the bottle cap and another on the upper right behind the metal snap.  Below "create" I added Anastasia border (this I cut from card stock as it is such an intricate die)  The last piece was half of the center of a Rum Punch Doily.  I added some beads to the bottle cap and then coated everything with Gesso.

Using Dylusions spray inks, I added color.  I also added some Glimmer Mist so it has a lovely shine.  This was hard for me as the anal side really wants to control where the color goes, lol.  But I tried to be brave and let the color do it's thing.  The last step was my flowers and leaves.

I decided to try cutting the flowers out of metal.  I have some soft aluminum, .005 thick 36 gauge.  They cut beautifully.  And I am loving these flowers.  They were so easy to mold and stack.  I decided not to color them, I liked the look of the silver.  I just added a bit of color to the tips of the petals with my Copic markers. You can see the flower dies I used below.  I am happy with the way my canvas turned out and I had fun making it.  It took me about 7 hours to complete this project.

All of the pictures above were taken inside with lamplight, thus the warm tones to the silver metal flowers.  Now that the sun is up, I decided to take another picture to show you the true beauty of the silver flowers.

Hello!

3:30 AM 4 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here sharing a cute shaped greeting card with the January New Release Bird House, my new favorite Sweet Williams Strip and the Tiny Flower Kit. Making shaped cards with the stackers is super easy. Fold your card stock and line up the fold to the inside of the cutting blade. Cut your shape. The fold will still be intact. Layer stackers on top and add you card front and embellish! For this card, I cut everything out of white watercolor paper and hand colored certain elements to match my digital image. I finished off the card with a bit of Wink of Stella glitter on the dragonfly wings, the sentiment and the edges of the flowers.

A Fun Purse with Rhonda

3:30 AM 5 Comments
Happy Monday crafty friends! It's Rhonda here today to host the blog for you.

Over the weekend we had some out of town friends come to visit. It was pretty fun to see their little girls play and how much they enjoy their purses and dolls, etc.

I recently received the circle scalloped stacker dies and remembered this very cute idea that Jodi had shared a while back here on one of her amazing pages.

Do you see that cute little blue purse?

I thought it might be fun to try and create a shaped purse card.

I started with the largest Scalloped Circle Stacker, then layered it with a plain Circle Stacker.  I trimmed the bottom flat. Next, I added the Lattice Valance Border and trimmed it to fit. I cut a few quills and tucked them in as well as a bit of the ivy corner flourish.

Here I've used the Cuties 1, 3 and 4 and some ivy strip leaves.

The lace corner deco d seemed like a nice clasp for the top.

To attach the pieces, I just used some washi tape.  I could have also stitched it, but it wouldn't have opened up so nice and flat. This was really a fun project to do! The stackers made it super easy to layer and get such a pretty look!

We would love to have you join us for our new Challenge 125 "Celebrate"! You could be the happy winner of a $20 shopping spree in the Cheery Lynn Designs online store!!! Who couldn't use that?!!!

Thank so much to Jodi for her inspiration and for stopping on over to the blog today!

Yes it's a "Happy Spring Day" card

3:30 AM 5 Comments
Happy Saturday everybody,
It's spring I can't believe it's going so fast but 'he' who am I to complain.
I love spring!
Thursday it was a warm and sunny day but Friday and today it's poring like crazy but it smells like spring.
Today I would like to share a card.

I really like the burlap border so much and I wanted to layer it so it looks like real burlap and that worked out really well as I may say so. I cut out four pieces and layered them on top of each other one a little higher then the other. I wanted to make the sun the center piece of my card. For that I used two different doily dies.

I went with the challenge of this week "think spring"
I'm totally into yellow at the moment it brings so much joy to your projects, you really need to try if you haven't already.

Have a wonderful and sunny weekend,

Nana's Card

3:30 AM 6 Comments

Hello Everyone!

Corina here once again to share with you my latest card creation using Cheery Lynn Dies!

Using the dies with white cardstock allows me the flexibility to ink to match my pattern paper. I used distress ink at first and did not get the intensity that I wanted. So I grabbed three of my new Inka Golds and tried them out. It was so easy to colour my die cuts! I know that this will be a technique I will use frequently!

As you might have seen, I have been loving the look of pearls to enhance the elegance of the die cuts. On the Butterfly, I used Inka Gold in Apricot & Pink, applied a layer of Glossy Accents and then added the pearls for a finishing touch.

My mother keeps asking when I was going to make a card for her - so here Nana, this one is for you!

Cheery Lynn Dies:
Rose Leaf Strip - B241
Miniature Rose - B152
Medium Rose - B154
Large Rose - B155
Chicken Wire - FRM144
Ankara Lace Border - B332
Expandable Tiny Borders - B215
Exotic Butterfly Medium #2 - DL115

Thank you so very much for the wonderful comments last week. I absolutely love reading them.

Take care,

Corina Finley

Hop into Spring

3:30 AM 2 Comments

Happy Tuesday everyone! leslierahye here enjoying the recent spring-like weather and dreaming of Spring holidays. I created this simple note card today with one of my favorite Spring images--the bunny. The Tiny Bubbles Border and my favorite daisies make this card easy to be mailed. The edges of my focal stamped image and the bubbles and the card itself were aged a bit with distress ink. A simple burlap bow and tiny pearls for the flowers finish off the card. When I send cards like this with a small amount of dimension through the mail, I either use a deep envelop--more like a small box--or I place a blank piece of card stock over my decorated front to allow the post office to run it through their machines without eating up the card.
