Not Your Everyday Kind of Christmas Card by Eva Dobilas

3:30 AM 3 Comments

Hi there, it's Christmas card creation time!  So I am here today with a Christmas card and since this week's challenge is to use non-traditional colors, that's how I created my card and I quite like it a lot!

To start off, I cut an A2 size card base out of light pink card stock, then I cut a slightly smaller card base out of white card stock, then another slightly smaller card stock out of kraft color and white embossed snowflakes on it using a stamp.

Next I die cut a Fiona's Magic Mirror out of light blue card stock.  Then I die cut a Merry Christmas out of white watercolor card stock and painted it with pink and green colors.  Adhered it to the middle of my mirror die shape and added some glitter to it.

Next I die cut my flower using Poinsettia Strip out of light pink card stock, built my flower and edged it with a little gesso and gold half pearl in the middle.  I also die cut a strip of Holly Leaves and added the leaves around my flower and finally I die cut the Pine Branches out of white card stock and left it just like that.

Well, hope you like my non-traditional colored Christmas card and here are the dies I used to create this with:

Thank you for visiting us today and hope to see your challenge cards uploaded this week again!

Merry Christmas by Julie Lavalette

Hi Everyone, it's JULIE here today sharing with you my sparkly Festive card. Let me take you through the process of how to apply your glitter to your die cut with a double sided sheet of adhesive.
Step 1: Attach adhesive sheet to White cardstock by releasing one side of the protective layer. You should now have a sheet of paper that has cardstock on one side and the adhesive film for the sticky sheet on other side with its protective layer still on.

Step 2: Place the protective layer side up on die cutting machine and place your die on top and cut.

Step 3: Once cut, glue a fussy cut oval to the back of your die cut. This makes the design POP.
Step 4: Rub an anti static bag over your paper, this way the glitter will only adhere to the adhesive. Now start to cut into the protective layer and lift off the film to reveal the sticky parts of the Holly. Start rubbing green glitter into the area with your finger.
Step 5: Repeating the  process to lift adhesive film again with your craft knife to reveal the sticky parts where you want to put the red glitter.
This process takes a little while but is a great way to apply different colours of glitter without them mixing.
A close up of my mistletoe, using embossing powder with Glossy Accents on top to create the little buds.
My snowy scene at the bottom was created using Embossing Puff powder and Distress inks.

Good luck to everyone entering our Weekly Challenge and have a lovely weekend.

Christmas Canvas

3:30 AM 2 Comments
Hello.  It's Debbie from Debbie's Time Out with you today. I would like to take the time to thank everyone who left a comment on my last post. It was nice to hear from you.  This is a canvas that I have used a wood grain stencil, gesso, gelatos and distress inks on to give it a  barn board look.

Each year I try to come up with a new idea for a new Christmas decoration. This canvas will look beautiful hanging on a wall or standing on a easel.

The Clock w/Angel Wing is off to the right cut in black and using Inka Golds to color it up giving it a metal look. This clock is one of my favorite CLD dies.  The Old Barn Board  was used as a base to layer the Merry Christmas  on to. The  Hinges were added to the edge of the barn board.

Here I layered the image, the Oval Classic - Silver Stackers  and the Royal Scandinavian Oval Doily as my focal point. I added the  Whistle a Happy Tune  colored with Inka  Golds. The Poinsettia 2  was layered using the greenery off the Merry Christmas  around it. The tag with 2015 is from the Love Tags . I placed the Garden Bench  in the bottom corner with one of the tiny flowers from the Tiny Flower Kit . Again I used the Inka Golds on the wrought iron of the bench. I added a few white dots here and there to give it a snowy look. Well that is it for this week. I hope I have inspired you to play with a canvas.

Please come and join our weekly challenge at Cheery Lynn Designs for your chance to win a $20.00 shopping spree. The theme this week is "Anything Goes".
                                                             Have a crafty week.

Thanksgiving Blessings by Jenny Alia

3:30 AM 0 Comments

Hi, it's Jenny here today wishing all of you in the USA a very Happy Thanksgiving!  When deciding what kind of a card I wanted to make this week I couldn't think of making a Thanksgiving card without using Tom the Turkey.  He's wonderful to color, those details on his body just pop out when you add color.

He's standing on an assortment of leaves also colored with distress inks from the Small Dimensional Leaves #2 die.  I added a scroll detail to the kraft paper using the Curved Border Set die.

Christmas Greetings with Lisa Blastick

3:30 AM 1 Comments

Hi everyone! It's Lisa back this week with a new card for Cheery Lynn Designs celebrating the upcoming holiday season! I recently received "Poinsettia Strip" and "Holly Leaves" and I love them both! The poinsettias have amazing details and layer so wonderfully! I added a bit of white Gala Glitz in the centers.

Here you can see how fluffy the flowers pop off the card. I added some pop dots behind the sentiment.
The background "Mexican Tile Pattern" is perfect with the poinsettias.

Your Happy Life 8x8 Layout by Amy Voorthuis

3:30 AM 0 Comments
Goodmorning sweet followers.
Today I would like to show you a layout that is totally out of my comfort zone {without any flowers}. This time I used a picture of my stepdad's father way back in time. Because I wanted to use my new B357 - Clock w/Angel Wing from the Steampunk Series that I received last week.
The papers I used are by Graphic 45.

Your Happy Life:
This time I used a bunch of gesso on my background papers to later on spray it with two different green sprays.  If you look closely you will see I added some stamps and paste using a stencil. For the centers of the gears I used vintage brads.

Thank you so much for your visit today and I hope I have inspired you to make something out of your comfort zone ;-)
If you love Cheery Lynn Designs dies you could always enter the challenge #212 "Anything Goes Theme" because you could win a $20 shopping spree at the store.
I can't wait to see all your pretty works.

Bon Appetit Recipe Book by Eva Dobilas

3:30 AM 0 Comments

Hi there, this is Eva here today.  With Thanksgiving just around the corner I thought I would share with you a recipe book created with one of our newest dies, the Memory Book A2 Scallops and Rings.  Can you imagine creating a recipe book with all your favorite recipes and give it as a gift to someone?  I think they would love it!

To create this recipe book I started out using the spine of the book and die cut it using the Memory Book A2 Scallops and Rings out of corrugated craft card stock.  Then I die cut my cover pages out of black card stock and my insert pages out of cream color card stock.  I die cut a smaller size of the Horizon Rectangle Boutique Stacker Frames out of cream color card stock and stamped my pretty background image on it.  I die cut the Bon Appetite out of a deep red card stock and placed it on the stamped panel, which I backed up with a light turquoise card stock to make it pop.  I added a little turquoise pearl on top.

I also die cut one of the borders from the Royal Scandinavian Border Set out black card stock and added it to my spine as a decorative touch and finally tied it all together with a red seam binding ribbon.

Here is the list of items to create this fun recipe book:

Well, hope this inspires you a little to create some recipe books to give away as a gift!  Thanks for stopping by and hope to see your creations in this week's challenge.

Hugs,
Eva

Baby Book by Julie Lavalette

3:30 AM 1 Comments

Hi Everyone, it's JULIE here today and I am sharing with you a decorated cover for a Baby Book using one of our fab new Memory Book dies. There are many different designs and Mike Dywan has kindly made a video to explain how you make these which you can view HERE.

I decided I wanted a semi hardback cover to my book so initially glued a sheet of paper to a lightweight GreyBoard and then die cut my spine and cover.

Next I die cut out single sheets of paper and glued to the inside of my front and back covers. The three layers together would have been too much for the die cutting machine to cut but took the two together with ease.

I rubbed ink around the edges of my die cuts before gluing together to form my book. I cut out the spine once again in white card and stamped the name Kirsty into the hearts and re- inserted them into the spine.

For my flowers I pressed a little ink onto the White Cardstock and then sprayed with a little water. I squeezed each petal into the finished shape shown and dried with my heat gun, then added a fancy pearl button to the centre.

My image was coloured with Copics and I added a little ink to the frame whilst my die was in place to leave a white border around it.

A view of the inside with blank white pages.

My Pennant die I cut out in patterned and white cardstock. I used the waste part of the White die cut to mount onto my flags for a double layer and used the little Hearts that had come out the border edge strip of my book, finishing off by stamping on the word Baby.

Vintage Christmas Tags

3:30 AM 4 Comments
Hi.  It's Debbie  with you today from Debbie's Time Out. It is so nice to see you here today. I would like to take a minute to say thanks to all of our viewers who take the time to leave us comments. It is really appreciated. So thank you. Now for this weeks project. I was inspired by our weekly challenge theme "Tag You're It" and decided to follow along. It is always nice to make your own personal tags to attach to the gifts for those special people in your lives.

I love the vintage look so I created a set of three simple but elegant vintage tags using only five dies. All the bases were cut from an aqua printed paper and  paired with kraft paper. All were inked up with distress ink. I embossed here and there with the chunky metal embossing powder so that there where areas with no embossing and  then inked them areas where the embossing was missed. This gives it a dimensional look.  Without doing this, the metal embossing looking too chunky if you know what I mean.
For this tag I used one of the Pierced Stacker #2 for the base. Don't you just love the stitching around this die.  The Merry Christmas die is from the  Crafty Ann  collection.
The base of this tag is Circle - Scalloped LG Stackers Nesting Dies . I have left the wreath offset a bit so you can see the nice line edge around the scallop which gives it another dimension without layering it. The Joy to the World Wreath set I cut twice. I layered one wreath on top of the other to create more fullness. The sentiment from that set was placed in the center.
This tag was made from one die set which is the Bow and Bell . The bow cuts out as an outline so I just attached it to paper and fussy cut around it. You can get two different looks with this bow by backing it as I have done or leave it as a outline only. I embellished all three tags with aqua bling .

I hope I have inspired you today with these tags. They are so pretty that you could even hang them on your tree as a decoration year after year.

Thanks so much for joining me today. I invite you now to come join our challenge "Tag Your It"

Also the other design team members have lots of inspiration  posted on the blog. Pour yourself a refreshment and just keep scrolling down to see all their beautiful designs.

Have a crafty week my friends.

Joy to the World by Jenny Alia

3:30 AM 2 Comments

Hi, it's Jenny hosting the blog today with a new Christmas card.  I love this adorable reindeer die and thought it was the perfect time to try it out.  The details on it are wonderful and it doesn't need a lot of embellishment to really make a statement.  This card was quick enough to make that it could probably be replicated for Christmas cards.

I first cut the Deutschland Boutique Stacker out of white cardstock and glued it to a green A2 sized card.  I then layered the second largest of the Royal Scandinavian Boutique Stacker Frames on top that was cut with kraft card stock.  I cut the Joy to the World die a couple of times to get the wreath green and the center dies (which I didn't cut out) cut with white and red paper to layer the Joy word on top.

I double cut the Reindeer fun die so I'd have some red pieces for his nose, collar and belt.  I used a piece of white paper behind his body and a piece of black behind his eye and ears.  I wanted his body to stand out from the kraft background so I also touched him up with some distress ink for dimension.

Christmas Tags with Lisa Blastick

3:30 AM 1 Comments
Hi everyone! It's Lisa sharing some Christmas Tags I made for Cheery Lynn Designs. I was inspired by this week's challenge "Tag Your It".  Since it is already the second part of November, I figured for sure it is time to make some cute tags for your Christmas packages. These tags are really easy to make too. For the base of the three tags, I used "Pierced Stacker #2".  I layered it twice using the second and the third largest dies. Then I just played with other dies to embellish.
Here I used "Snowflowers Set 2" and some stamped doves. I stamped the sentiment on the second smallest "Pierced Stacker #2"
Next, I used a "Gingerbread Man" from the "Gingerbread Family", I added some wiggly eyes and placed red cardstock in the back for the buttons. For the patterned paper I used "Horizon Fishtail Banner" and stamped on another "Pierced Stacker #2" for the sentiment. I also stamped and fussy cut out the bells.
Last, but not least, I stamped the sentiment on "Horizon Fishtail Banners" Die, cut out two candy canes from "Gingerbread House" and die cut out "Christmas Lights Swag".  I stamped and fussy cut out a two layered poinsettia.

Merry Christmas Card by Amy Voorthuis

3:30 AM 1 Comments
Good morning lovelies.
It's Amy with you today and this time I'd like to show you a Christmas card I made with some awesome dies. The base of the card was made with the wonderful Square Stitch and Cut Tool.
I took out the smallest square and cut it out of three different pattered papers then I distressed the edges a little to make it more shabby!

Merry Christmas:
Then I made a pattern I liked so I cut out three squares out of three design sheets but I had one square left over. Later one I made the flowers and this time I didn't water them but I just used them without and kind of distressing. Then I added some pine cones I got at a dollar store to make my flower cluster a bit more cuter.  On top of that I sprayed my flower cluster with white spray and added some snow randomly.

I hope you like my card and I would like to thank you all for your visit and leaving such sweet comments on everybody's work. If you love Cheery Lynn Designs dies you could always enter the challenge #211 "Tag, You're it!" because you could win a $20 shopping spree at the store.
I would love to see all your pretty works.
